Edward L. Kaufman has been with World Wrestling Entertainment since January 1997, and has served as the Company’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel since July 2003. Before that, he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel from March 1998 to July 2003, and as Vice President and General Counsel from January 1997 to March 1998. He became the Company’s Secretary in May 2001.

Kaufman has been responsible for the creation and development of the Company’s in-house legal department, which has grown from a staff of one to its current staff of 13, and which handles everything from negotiating talent contracts to pay-per-view agreements, intellectual property and immigration issues.

Kaufman graduated from the University of Virginia in 1981 with honors, and from Stanford Law School in 1984. In January 1991, after spending six years as an associate in a Bay Area law firm, Kaufman became Vice President and Associate Counsel for Security Pacific Corp., a Los Angeles-based financial institution, overseeing all employment-related issues for Security-Pacific’s 40,000 employees. In April, 1992, Kaufman became Director of Employee and Labor Relations for NBC’s West Coast operations. In July of 1995, he became Director of Business and Legal Affairs with Hanna-Barbara Inc. in Hollywood, California.
