Hermie Sadler to Drive "WWE SummerSlam" Chevrolet at Bristol NASCAR Busch Series Race
STAMFORD, CT- August 21, 2000- WWE Entertainment, Inc. (NMS: WWE) will participate in its first ever NASCAR race on Friday, August 25, 2000 when Hermie Sadler drives the "WWE SummerSlam" Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division event in Bristol, Tennessee.
WWE Entertainment, Inc., which currently sponsors NHRA Funny Car teammates Jim Epler and Jerry Toliver, is excited about its first NASCAR race. "Based on the support and success of our NHRA team, we have confirmed what we already assumed - a large cross-section of race fans are also WWE fans," said Jim Byrne, Senior Vice President of Marketing. "We feel this race is a perfect opportunity for us to reach our target audience and promote SummerSlam, which is on Sunday following the race."
Hermie Sadler has expressed appreciation for the opportunity, "I have been a supporter of the WWE for a long time. To be a part of their first NASCAR race is a tremendous honor. And with SummerSlam being one of the biggest events of the year, we are excited about being a part of this promotion."
In support of the event, WWE Superstars "Road Dogg" Jesse James, Farooq, and Bradshaw will be on hand at the event. The Superstars will also be available for pictures and autographs before the event at the WWE Racing Merchandise Trailer. In addition, the "SummerSlam" car will be on display at live WWE events next Monday, August 21, in Lafayette, Louisiana, and Tuesday, August 22, in New Orleans.
WWE SummerSlam is Sunday, August 27, 2000 live from Raleigh, NC. The main event will be a Triple Threat Championship Match between champion, The Rock, Triple H, and Kurt Angle.
