WWE The Music: Volume 5 CD Debuts at No. 2 on Billboard Top 200

STAMFORD, Conn./NEW YORK, New York –SmackDown! Records, a division of WWE Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: WWE), and KOCH Records have launched WWE The Music: Volume 5 into the #2 spot on the Billboard Top 200*, making it the highest debut of the week. The CD is already Certified Gold in the United States, Canada, and the UK and is on its way to becoming Certified Gold in Australia and Chile.

SmackDown! Records and KOCH Records shipped 1.5 million copies worldwide, including one million units in the US, 100,000 in the UK, and 70,000 in Canada. In addition to its strong showing on the US sales charts, WWE The Music: Volume 5 debuted at #2 and #5 in the UK and Canada, respectively. The CD is a top seller at retail chains such as Tower Records, Best Buy, Kmart and Target and continues to sell well at several other retail outlets.

WWE the Music, Volume 5 features 14 WWE Superstar theme songs; two highlights are Motorhead’s version of the Triple H theme, “The Game,” and The Rock’s vocal debut on a track called “Pie.”

Ron McCarrell, President of SmackDown! Records, noted that Volume 5 was ahead of sales of the WWE The Music: Volume 4 that went Platinum. “As the first release under the new SmackDown! Records label, I’m thrilled that WWE The Music: Volume 5 had the strongest debut of any previously released WWE branded CD,” he said. “We’re off to a great start as we begin to produce other compilations and sign original talent to produce new music.”
