WWE Entertainment Superstars Read in New York City for Teen Read Week
Superstars The Hurricane, Mighty Molly and Stacy Keibler will read selections from their favorite books at Frederick Douglass Academy in Harlem and the Bloomingdale Regional Library in Manhattan, a branch of the New York City Public Library. The library program starts at 3:30 p.m. and the public is invited.
The Superstars will read from a range of American literature, including, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain; "Beloved" by Toni Morrison; "Help, I'm Trapped in a Professional Wrestler's Body" by Todd Strasser; "Halloween Hijinx" by WWE Superstar Mick Foley; and "What's Wrong With Timmy?" a new book by Maria Shriver.
In celebration of Teen Read Week, WWE is also beginning a new feature in the Get R.E.A.L section of wweeparents.com at http://www.wweparents.com/real/albert_book.html, through which Superstars will talk about their favorite books. The feature starts with recommendations from WWE Superstar Albert, whose favorite children's book is "Super Fudge" by Judy Blume and whose favorites as an adult are two by Steven Ambrose, "Band of Brothers" and "The Good Fight: How World War II Was Won."
In one other Teen Read Week initiative, Superstar Mick Foley, who has authored three New York Times bestsellers, has written an op-ed piece that is being distributed to newspapers around the country. Foley's opinion piece can also be found in the Get R.E.A.L. section of wweeparents.com at http://www.wweparents.com/news/mick_oped.html Get R.E.A.L. stands for Respect, Education, Achievement and Leadership.
"Our support of Teen Read Week builds on WWE's 'Get R.E.A.L.' program which brings our Superstars into senior and junior high schools to deliver positive messages to teens on education, literacy, safety and goal-setting," said Gary Davis, WWE Vice President, Corporate Communications. "We have received a wonderful response to this program, as well as to the library readings our Superstars conducted this summer that attracted hundreds of people."
