WWE Entertainment to Start 2002 International Touring in March
Asia's SmackDown! Tour will start at the Yokohama Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on March 1, 2002. Performances will also be held at the Indoor Stadium in Singapore on March 3, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 4. Total Sports Asia will coordinate the Asian tour.
WWE also will add events around its Insurrextion pay-per-view event on May 4 in London's Wembley Arena, which sold out in 21 minutes earlier this month. The three new events will be in the United Kingdom and Germany. In addition, WWE will be scheduling an event for Australia in summer 2002 and a second European tour in the fall. Specific dates and venues will be announced later.
"Through our international television partners, the WWE® has built a strong foundation for further global expansion. Live event touring is the next logical step," said Roger Marment, Executive Vice President, International Business Development. "We believe that our international business will increase significantly as we conduct live event tours in Asia, Europe and Australia throughout 2002."
