World Wrestling Entertainment to Promote "Operation USO Care Package"  America's Support is Needed

Nov 11, 2002

Washington, D.C. - World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:WWE) is helping to promote the United Service Organizations (USO) "Operation USO Care Package" in November. "Operation USO Care Package" enables individuals to write a personal message and financially support care packages that will be delivered to service members participating in Operation Enduring Freedom. "Operation USO Care Package" is sponsored by the USO World Headquarters and administered by the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro).

WWE is promoting the USO initiative within its WWE Monday Night RAW and WWE SmackDown! programs. RAW, on TNN at 9 .m. (EST/PST) is one of the top-rated regularly scheduled shows on cable; SmackDown!, which airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on UPN, is that network's top-rated program. Along with the television promotion, WWE is featuring an article on the USO program on its popular Web site, wwe.com. WWE is also donating products to be included in the care packages. "WWE has been very supportive of our USO programs. We appreciate the company's offer to promote this initiative with WWE fans across America to show our fighting men and women that they are remembered by Americans back home," said Elaine Rogers, USO Metro President. "This program is possible because of the support from corporations like WWE, individuals, and organizations that donate funds to sponsor the packages or items requested by military personnel."

Individuals can sponsor a package for a donation of $25. Corporations may contribute to this program's success through financial contributions, items donated in bulk for the care packages, or through implementation of an employee participation program. For example, AT&T is already supporting this program by providing a complimentary toll free number for individuals to call for further information (1-866-USO-GIVE) and phone cards to be included in the packages for the troops. Trusted Computer Solutions is supporting Operation USO Care Package by matching individual contributions with company funds.

The care packages contain an assortment of daily sundries that our military have specifically requested, such as prepaid international calling cards, disposable cameras, toiletries, and sunscreen. They also include greetings from the American public, transcribed onto official "Operation USO Care Package" post cards by volunteers and USO staff members. Through partnerships with USOs across the world, and the support of the American public, packages will be sent to members of our armed forces deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
