The Rock® vs. Hollywood Hulk HoganT Rematch and the Return of Stone Cold Steve AustinT at WWET No Way Out® on February 23
The Legends Return at WWE No Way Out Live on Pay-Per-View
It’s been nearly 11 months since The Rock defeated Hogan at WrestleMania® X8 in front of a record-setting crowd of 68,237 at Toronto’s SkyDome. Now, after a sixth month hiatus to film his new movie Helldorado, The Rock returns to WWE to face Hulk Hogan once again in an epic rematch. Three weeks ago, Hogan returned to WWE SmackDown!™ (UPN, Thursdays, 8/7 p.m. CT) after a six-month absence following a brutal loss to Brock Lesnar™. While Hogan initially challenged Mr. McMahon™, the Chairman of WWE recently announced that The Rock would be a more suitable opponent at WWE No Way Out, quickly putting an end to the dream match-up between The Hulkster and the man who created him…for now.
WWE No Way Out will also mark the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin who abruptly walked out on WWE in June 2002. At the time, rumors swirled regarding his departure. WWE highlighted the struggle on WWE Confidential™ and The Rock made a special appearance on RAW (The New TNN, Mondays, 9/8 p.m. CT) after Stone Cold’s departure to rally the troops and the fans. However, over the last eight months, "The Rattlesnake™" remained silent …until now. The February issue of RAW Magazine features a cover story by Stone Cold Steve Austin entitled "The Stone Cold Truth." The article is an eye-opening account detailing Stone Cold’s side of the story, including his recent troubles with his wife and former WWE Superstar, Debra. On-air, Eric Bischoff™, General Manager of RAW, invited Stone Cold Steve Austin back to RAW in an effort to save his job and strengthen the RAW roster. Last night on RAW, ending weeks of speculation, Stone Cold Steve Austin accepted the invite giving Bischoff a last minute reprieve from the unemployment line. However, he won’t be showing up at WWE No Way Out as the General Manager of Raw, instead Mr. McMahon ordered him to compete against Stone Cold Steve Austin.
