WWE is a global entertainment brand much like Hollywood studios creating programming that puts smiles on peoples' faces. All WWE programming features only TV-PG content and storylines. WWE's Smackdown has always been rated TV-PG. Other WWE programming gradually transitioned to TV-PG content and storylines, officially being recognized as TV-PG by WWE's televisions network partners' standards and practices departments in July 2008.
In recognition of WWE's family-friendly programming, its network partners (USA Network, Syfy and NBC) rate WWE's weekly individual programs as TV-PG. These ratings are based on existing Federal Communications Commission TV Parental Guidelines and the accepted standards and practices of our network partners. TV-PG rated programming, as defined by the Federal Communications Commission, contains "material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children."
Prominent leaders and influencers including President Obama, 2008 presidential candidate Arizona Sen. John McCain, and Secretary of State Clinton have appeared on our program to promote their candidacies for office. Former President George W. Bush appeared several times to support the troops on our "Tribute to the Troops" annual holiday program. Additionally, The Muppets, Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Piven, Nancy O'Dell, Jewel, Ryan Phillippe, Kristen Wiig, Shaq and Bob Barker are just a handful of celebrities who have made guest appearances on our programming.
