WWE Talent Wellness Program Medical Team


Joseph Maroon. M.D.


Joseph Maroon. M.D., is the new Medical Director for WWE’s Talent Wellness Program. He will administer all aspects of WWE’s Talent Wellness Program, under the auspices of ImPACT Applications Inc.* This includes supervision of physicians and trainers for WWE live events and overseeing medical care and drug testing for performers. He is a board certified Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Honored as one of America’s Best Neurosurgeons for five consecutive years, he has published four books and has written more than 250 papers and 40 book chapters, many on sports medicine. His primary area of research is on the prevention and treatment of injuries and diseases of the brain and spine. He and his colleague, neuropsychologist Mark Lovell, Ph.D., developed ImPACT ™ (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing). He is a director of the Scientific Advisory Board to the General Nutrition Corporation (GNC). Jeffrey Bost, P.A.C. assists Dr. Maroon in implementation and administration of the Talent Wellness Program. He is a certified physician's assistant with 18 years of experience dealing with professional athletes. He also is a clinical instructor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

 

James R. Andrews, M.D.


James R. Andrews, M.D. is an internationally known and recognized orthopedic surgeon who will consult on injuries to WWE performers which may require surgery. He is the founding member of the Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center and the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. He is co-medical director for intercollegiate sports at Auburn University and senior orthopedic consultant to the University of Alabama and the Washington Redskins Football Organization. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.

 

Mark Lovell, Ph.D.


Mark Lovell, Ph.D., ABPN is in charge of the ImPACT neurocognitive testing for WWE performers. He is a neuropsychologist and director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Sports Medicine Concussion Program. He is a consultant to the NFL's MTBI Committee, and also consults with the NHL. He oversees neurocognitive testing for the Indianapolis Racing League, CHAMP car racing, major league soccer, the U.S. Ski and Snow Board Team and numerous other sports organizations, nationally and internationally. Dr. Lovell has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers and is recognized as an international authority in the diagnosis and management of concussions in sports.

 

David Black, Ph.D.


David Black, Ph.D. operates WWE’s independent Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Program. He is the chairman, CEO and president of Aegis Sciences Corporation in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded as a sports drug testing and doping laboratory in 1986, Aegis Sciences is now a full service, forensic science company providing toxicology and consulting services to sports organizations, crime laboratories, physicians and corporations throughout the United States and the world. Dr. Black has helped institute the drug testing policy in the NFL and is internationally recognized for his knowledge and expertise in this field. Aegis Sciences Corporation is certified by several agencies for drug testing, including the United States Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (DHHS/SAMHSA), and also provides Doping Control services to more than 50 NCAA universities.

 

Frederick Feuerbach, M.D.


Frederick Feuerbach, M.D. handles WWE’s cardiac monitoring program as a member of New York Cardiology Associates. He is a practicing specialist in cardiology on the clinical faculty of Cornell University. On an annual basis, he performs medical examinations on all WWE performers, including stress echo tests of the heart, as a preventive measure. Performers also undergo annually a battery of other screening tests for cardiovascular and general health risk factors. Cardiovascular screenings are repeated every six months.

 

Martha Dodson, D.O., MPH


Martha Dodson, D.O., MPH, is WWE’s ringside physician for performers on SmackDown/ECW. Dr. Dodson will attend to the needs of SmackDown/ECW performers at live events. She has extensive experience providing medical care for USA Boxing, Golden Gloves, D-1 team sports, USA Taekwondo, Arena Football, and professional ice hockey. She also provides consultant and contract services for FQHC primary care clinic and Army Soldier/Family clinic.

 

Christopher Amann, M.D.


Christopher Amann, M.D., is WWE’s ringside physician for performers on RAW. Dr. Amann will attend to the needs of RAW performers at live events. He is the team physician for the United States Olympic Committee and the United States Soccer Women’s National Team.

 

Chris Brannan


Chris Brannan is an athletic trainer attending to the needs of WWE performers since 1999. He is a certified athletic trainer. He is a graduate of Gardner Webb University with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Athletic Training and Psychology.

 

Larry Heck


Larry Heck is an athletic trainer attending to the needs of WWE performers since 2001. He is a certified licensed athletic trainer. Prior to joining WWE, he was employed by HEALTHSOUTH Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation as the Sports Medicine Outreach Coordinator. He has also worked as a trainer for NFL Europe, World League of American Football, Canadian Football League, International Hockey League, Central Hockey League, and the Texas Louisiana Baseball League. He is a graduate of Waynesburg College with a Degree in Sports Medicine.

 

Jason Crivello


Jason Crivello is an athletic trainer attending to the needs of WWE performers since 2006. Prior to working with WWE, Crivello was a high school athletic trainer and also worked at Ohio Valley Wrestling, a developmental wrestling school, which at the time was affiliated with WWE. He is a certified athletic trainer. Crivello is a graduate of University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine.
