WWE Entertainment, Inc. Launches ‘Get R.E.A.L.’ Educational Campaign
Stamford Conn. October 2 2001 – WWE Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: WWE) today announced the launch of its Get R.E.A.L. educational program. Get R.E.A.L. is a school program that brings WWE Superstars into junior and senior high schools to deliver positive messages on education literacy safety and goal setting. The program is built around the initiative’s four tenets-Respect Education Achievement and Leadership.
"Our programming and Superstars are very popular with teens. The Get R.E.A.L. program is a way for us to have a positive influence for these young people " said Linda McMahon Chief Executive Officer for WWE. "We want Get R.E.A.L. to be a real life solution helping young people understand the importance of staying in school reading achieving good grades and setting goals that will lead them to personal success as many of our Superstars have done."
Get R.E.A.L. was undertaken as a pilot program during the past several months at schools in Washington D.C. Stratford Conn. Houston and San Antonio Texas. It officially begins today at a school in Mobile Ala. with a presentation by Lita and the Hardy Boyz. Educators interested in hosting a Get R.E.A.L. assembly in their school are encouraged to call Sue Aitchison in WWE’s community relations department at 203-353-2890.
As part of the Get R.E.A.L. launch WWE and KB Toys are sponsoring a nationwide Get R.E.A.L. essay contest. Participants are asked to write in 150 words or less about what one or all of the four tenets of Get R.E.A.L. means to them. Participants can submit their essays through www.wweparents.com or www.kbtoys.com. Three grand prize winners will be selected with each receiving a Get R.E.A.L. assembly at his/her school by a WWE Superstar. The contest runs October 1-November 30 2001. WWE and KB Toys have also partnered on an in-store promotion in which customers will receive three Get R.E.A.L. trading cards with a $10 purchase of WWE branded merchandise. The complete set is made up of 18 trading cards that feature photos of WWE Superstars and positive Get R.E.A.L. messages.
