WWE Tour of South Africa Generates Almost $1 Million, New Licensing Agents Anno ...

STAMFORD Conn. March 10 2003 – World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. announced today that its WWE tour of South Africa generated almost $1 million in sponsorship ticket and merchandise sales for the company and resulted in the appointment of new licensing agents for consumer goods and home entertainment products in South Africa.

More than 30 000 people attended the sold-out tour which featured events at Good Hope Center in Cape Town Westridge Park Tennis Stadium in Durban The Dome in Johannesburg and the Carnival City Casino in East Rand. Big Concerts was the local promoter.

WWE also announced that Character Licensing and Marketing SA will be the consumer products licensing agent for South Africa and The David Gresham Record Company will be the agent for WWE videos and DVDs.

"This sold-out live-event tour of South Africa has been a tremendous market boost for us and our TV partners eTV and MNET " said Roger Marment WWE’s Executive Vice President of International Business Development. "We are bullish about the growth potential of the South African market as we expand into consumer products licensing and DVD distribution."

WWE has planned 27 live events in 2003 across five continents in countries including Japan Australia Finland Germany Italy Korea Mexico Singapore Taiwan Thailand and the United Kingdom.
