WWE Creates New Affiliate Group

STAMFORD Conn. February 21 2006 – World Wrestling Entertainment® is unifying all its cable satellite and telco affiliate activities under a new in-house WWE Distribution and Affiliate Marketing Group to achieve a common goal of increasing revenues through the use of WWE content. The affiliate group will be headed by Peter Clifford Vice President Distribution and Affiliate Marketing. 

Along with driving distribution of WWE’s subscription video on demand service — WWE 24/7 On Demand — and other products the new affiliate group will assume the activities of long-time marketing agency TEAM Services which has handled the majority of WWE’s affiliate relations through promotion of WWE’s lucrative pay-per-view business.  WWE has generated nearly $2 billion for the pay-per-view event industry over the past two decades.

 “We saw great potential in finding ways to combine our monthly pay-per-view promotions with our new and developing digital and broadband services and products and decided to form our own in-house group to better capture those synergies ” said Dan Levi Senior Vice President Marketing.  “TEAM Services did a terrific job for WWE over the years helping to build our pay-per-view business into the largest in the world today. However we firmly believe that by providing affiliates with one internal point of contact we can find new ways to combine our pay-per-view and digital programming into a seamless marketing message that will reap rewards for both our affiliates and WWE.”

The new WWE affiliate group will be the single point of contact with affiliates on distribution and marketing initiatives. “We believe this one-stop approach to communicating to affiliates will achieve even greater success in the promotion of pay-per-view and our new business initiatives” said Clifford.  “We intend to be very active with our affiliates in finding new and innovative ways to use WWE’s marketing muscle and products to grow new revenue streams in all aspects of their business.”  

The new affiliate group will start with 12 employees including a five-person affiliate marketing team under the direction of Lisa Richards who will become the new Director Affiliate Marketing reporting to Clifford. 

The new WWE affiliate group will officially start on Monday April 3 the day after the WrestleMania® 22 pay-per-view is broadcast live from Rosemont’s Allstate Arena in Chicago.  However before then WWE is asking affiliates to sign up for all WWE affiliate services at  www.wweaffiliates.com
