STAMFORD Conn. November 2 2009 – World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. announced that principal photography will conclude this week in New Orleans Louisiana on WWE Studios’ film “Knucklehead ” starring Mark Feuerstein (“Royal Pains”) Melora Hardin (“The Office”) and WWE® Superstar Paul “Big Show” Wight. Director Michael W. Watkins (“Prison Break”) helms this comedy adventure which also stars Dennis Farina (“Law & Order”) Wendy Malick (“Just Shoot Me!”) Rebecca Creskoff (“Hung”) Bobb’e J. Thompson (“Role Models”) Will Patton (“The Fourth Kind”) and Saul Rubinek (“Warehouse 13”).
“Knucklehead” will complete its location filming in and around New Orleans Louisiana November 5 2009 and is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States in Spring 2010.
Written by Tom Sullivan & Bear Aderhold and Adam Rifkin “Knucklehead” follows the on-the-road adventures of a trio of misfits – a naïve giant and church orphan-turned-amateur fighter Walter Krunk (BIG SHOW); former mixed martial arts champion-turned-manager Eddie Sullivan (MARK FEUERSTEIN); and church aide-turned-chaperone Mary O’Connor (MELORA HARDIN) – fighting their way across the south to the annual Pro-Am mixed martial arts tournament in New Orleans.
“Knucklehead” is produced by WWE Studios’ Executive Vice President Mike Pavone and executive produced by WWE Studios’ Senior Vice President Development & Production Steve Barnett and Vice President Production David Calloway. Line producer is Robert Del Valle. Director of photography is Kenneth Zunder production designer is Raymond Pumilia and costume designer is Claire Breaux. Editor is Peck Prior and the composer is James Raymond.
“I asked Michael Watkins to join our team because he is the consummate director and he makes me laugh harder than anyone I know ” said Pavone. “He was also the perfect director to help set up the template moving forward for WWE Studios’ new slate of films.”
Emmy Award-winning Director Michael W. Watkins is well-known for his work as a director producer executive producer and cinematographer on numerous episodes of the television series: “Prison Break ” “Warehouse 13 ” “The X-Files ” “Law & Order ” “The Guardian ” “Quantum Leap ” and “Las Vegas.” His other series credits include: “Royal Pains ” “Monk ” “Numb3rs ” “NYPD Blue ” “CSI ” “American Dreams ” “In Plain Sight ” “Smallville ” “The Agency” and “Brooklyn South.”
SYNOPSIS
Shortly after Eddie loses his new fighter and finds himself $50 000 in debt to longtime nemesis and bookie Memphis Earl (DENNIS FARINA) he discovers Walter a bumbling 7-foot 440-pound life-long resident of the orphanage-turned-handyman with his own debt problems: The kitchen fire Walter caused will close down the church’s orphanage in a week unless he comes up with $50 000. Upon overhearing Walter’s predicament Eddie convinces the no-nonsense head nun Sister Francesca (WENDY MALICK) that Walter can win the $100 000 grand prize at the tournament to pay off the church’s debts. But in order to do so he will need to take Walter on the road enter amateur fights along the way and teach him how to become a real fighter. Sister Francesca dispatches Mary as a chaperone for both Walter and the money and gives Eddie a week – and a prayer – to make it happen.

Actor Mark Feuerstein portrays Eddie Sullivan a former mixed martial arts champion-turned-manager who recruits Walter Krunk to take on undefeated champ Redrum (LESTER SPEIGHT) who is managed by his longtime nemesis and bookie Memphis Earl. Feuerstein well-known for his role as Dr. Hank Lawson on the hit USA series “Royal Pains ” has starred in such films as “Defiance ” “Rules of Engagement ” “What Women Want ” “The Muse ” “Practical Magic” and the upcoming “Love Shack.” On television Feuerstein has starred in such series as “The Hustler” (on which he also served as executive producer writer and director) “Good Morning Miami” and “Fired Up.” He has enjoyed recurring roles on “The West Wing ” “Once and Again ” “Caroline in the City” and “3 lbs.” Other guest-starring credits include “Shark ” “Law & Order ” “The Closer ” “Ally McBeal ” and “Sex and the City.”
Melora Hardin who has appeared in such films as “Hannah Montana: The Movie ” “17 Again ” “27 Dresses ” and “The Violin ” portrays Mary O’Conner the beautiful aide to Sister Francesca whose past life outside the church comes in handy when she is drafted to chaperone Walter’s trip to the fight tournament. Hardin well known for her role as Jan Levinson on the Emmy Award-winning series “The Office ” recently completed the films “You” and “Lights Out.” On television she has guest starred on such series as “Monk ” “Gilmore Girls ” “Without a Trace ” “CSI ” “Boston Legal ” “NCIS ” and “Family Guy.”
WWE Superstar Paul “Big Show” Wight plays Walter Krunk a 7-foot-tall 440-pound naïve giant who was raised in the St. Thomas Orphanage and never left – until he takes to the road with Eddie and Mary. His film credits include “Jingle All the Way ” “Reggie’s Prayer ” “Little Hercules in 3-D” and “Waterboy.” He has also appeared on the television programs “Players ” “Mad TV ” “Hogan Knows Best” and “The Weakest Link.” Wight is the only individual to ever hold the WWE WCW® and ECW® Championships. Wight made his wrestling debut as “The Giant” in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1995 holding the championship twice before he made his debut in the WWE in 1999. During his time with the WWE Wight has held numerous titles including World Tag Team Champion WWE Hardcore Champion and United States Champion. He currently holds the Unified World Tag Team Championship with partner WWE Superstar Chris Jericho.
Dennis Farina an ex-Chicago policeman best known for his cop roles on the television series “Law & Order” and “Crime Story ” plays Memphis Earl the fight manager and bookie who is determined to ensure that Eddie and Walter never make it to the Pro-Am tournament to face his undefeated fighter Redrum. Farina’s film credits include: “What Happens in Vegas ” “Snatch ” “Stealing Harvard ” “Saving Private Ryan ” “Out of Sight ” “Get Shorty ” “Manhunter” and “Thief.” He has dozens of movies for television to his credit as well including: “Empire Falls ” “A Stranger in the Mirror ” “People Like Us ” “Blind Faith” and “The Case of the Hillside Stranglers.” Farina has also guest starred on such series as “Miami Vice ” “China Beach” and “Hunter.”
Award-winning actress Wendy Malick who has more than 100 film and television programs to her credit portrays Sister Francesca the tough-talking intimidating head nun at the St. Thomas Orphanage who pushes Walter to go on the road with Eddie. Malick won the Cable Ace Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series four-years-in-a-row (1992-1995) for her role on HBO’s “Dream On”; the Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series for “Big Day” and has been nominated for two Emmy Awards as Best Supporting Actress for her role as Nina Van Horn on the critically acclaimed comedy series “Just Shoot Me!” Her credits include the recent films “The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard ” “Confessions of a Shopaholic ” “Adventureland” and the upcoming “Fifty-nothing” and “I Was a 7th Grade Dragon Slayer.” Among the other dozens of television credits are starring roles in such comedy series as “The X’s ” “Jake in Progress ” and “Fillmore!”
Rebecca Creskoff portrays Tina a friend of Mary’s who helps the trio on the road and develops a crush on Walter. Currently Creskoff stars in HBO’s “Hung” and has been a series regular on “Quintuplets” and “Greetings from Tucson.” Her other television credits include guest starring roles on “NCIS ” “Mad Men ” “Girlfriends ” “The Practice ” “The West Wing ” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Law & Order.”
Bobb’e J. Thompson plays the fast-talking scrappy teen-aged fight manager Mad Milton whose ambitions extend beyond his backyard ring exhibitions. Thompson was nominated for the 2009 Best Breakthrough Performance-Male at the MTV Movie Awards for his role as Ronnie Shields in “Role Models.” His upcoming films include “Nic & Tristan Go Mega Dega” and “Snowmen.” He was recently featured in the films “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs ” “Imagine That ” “Land of the Lost ” “Role Models ” “Shark Tale” and “Fred Claus” and has guest starred on such television series as “The Tracy Morgan Show ” “Cory in the House ” “That’s So Raven ” “My Wife and Kids” and “Joey.” Thompson also has enjoyed a recurring role on “30 Rock” as Tracy Morgan Jr. With nearly 30 films and series to his credit Thompson first attracted attention as a child actor for his break-through performance as the pint-sized Tupac in the film “My Baby’s Daddy” and continues to entertain as the fast-talking Lil Dez in the commercials with NBA stars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
Will Patton whose award-winning career spans three decades portrays Eddie’s father Vic Sullivan an ex-fighter trainer and gym owner. A popular actor Patton has completed nearly a dozen films in the last two years (“The Fourth Kind ” “The Canyon ” “Waking Madison”) while enjoying recurring roles on the television series “24” and “Numb3rs.” His dozens of credits include blockbusters and critically acclaimed films such as: “Remember the Titans ” “The Cleaner ” “The Punisher ” “Silkwood ” “No Way Out ” “The Client ” “Armageddon ” “Entrapment” “Gone in 60 Seconds ” “Romeo Is Bleeding” and “After Hours.” On television he starred as Jack Haisley in the series “The Agency.”
Saul Rubinek who currently portrays Artie Nielsen on the series “Warehouse 13 ” plays a Rabbi who organizes fights in the synagogue basement for his impassioned congregation. A veteran character actor Rubinek has starred in a variety of television and films including: “Julia ” “War ” “Rush Hour 2 ” “The Family Man ” “The Contender ” “Wall Street ” “Unforgiven” and “True Romance.” Among his dozens of television credits are recurring roles on the following series: “Curb Your Enthusiasm ” “Stargate SG-1 ” “Frasier ” “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “A Nero Wolfe Mystery.” Other credits include: “Psych ” “Eureka ” “Boston Legal ” “Lost ” and “Law & Order.”

Kurt Doss stars as Henry an orphan at St. Thomas who considers Walter his best friend. Doss recently starred alongside Bobb’e J. Thompson in “Role Models” and in the ABC sitcom “Ruby & the Rockits. ” He is the voice of Frred in the series “Happy Monster Band.” His other television credits include “Special Agent Oso ” “Desperate Housewives ” “Invasion ” “The New Adventures of Old Christine ” “Huff ” “According to Jim” and “Back to You.”
